Addressing a press conference at the party office, Sharma said the people had voted for development and progress but were let down.
“The NC, Congress and others have never worked for the people of J&K. The Government has completed one year in power-what have they done except transfers and blame games? People of J&K voted for them for development and progress,” Sharma said.
He alleged that the Government has not even fulfilled its own manifesto commitments.<“The agenda they started with, such as free electricity and other promises-what has been done on that? What have they achieved in one year except deceiving people? How many promises made in the manifesto have they fulfilled?” he asked.
On the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in J&K, Sharma said the nomination of candidates would be decided by the party’s Election Committee and core group, while the final decision would rest with the BJP’s Parliamentary Board.
Speaking about Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat, Sharma said the idea of a self-reliant and developed India was not new, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership had transformed the country’s economy.
“When the PM came to power, India ranked 11th with a $2 trillion economy. Carrying people along, he brought the country to the 4th rank with a $4 trillion economy. We are heading towards becoming the 3rd largest in the world,” he said.
Sharma stressed that achieving developed-nation status by 2047 required people to be “vocal for local” and to strengthen the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said the use of indigenous weapons had played a key role in the country’s victory, underscoring the importance of self-reliance.
Earlier, in Bandipora, Sharma alleged that the Opposition was behind the recent unrest in Ladakh, asserting that the violence did not reflect the will of its people.
“The violence in Ladakh is not reflective of the people’s aspirations. Ladakhis have always wanted peace. It is the Opposition that is responsible for this situation,” he said.
