JAMMU, June 17: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta has launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC)-led Government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its pre-election promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a public gathering in Bahu Fort area, covering Ward Nos. 47 and 48, Gupta expressed deep concern over the NC Government’s inaction and its tendency to shift blame onto the public, despite being in power for nearly eight months.
Gupta highlighted that the NC had made tall claims during the election campaign, promising free rations, electricity, and other essential services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. However, he remarked, “eight months have passed since the elections, and the NC Government is in a deep slumber. The people are asking where are the free rations and electricity they promised? It is shameful that instead of fulfilling their commitments, the Government is busy making excuses and blaming the public for its failures.”
The BJP leader accused the NC Government of neglecting critical issues affecting the common people, including rising unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, and the lack of basic amenities in several areas. “The NC Government has failed on all fronts,” Gupta declared, adding that the public is growing increasingly disillusioned with the administration’s inability to address their grievances. He urged the NC to stop misleading the people and focus on delivering the welfare measures it pledged before the elections.
During the meeting in Bahu Fort, Gupta also interacted with residents of Ward Nos. 47 and 48, patiently listening to their concerns, which included erratic power supply. He assured the public that their issues would be raised with the concerned authorities and addressed on a priority basis.
