NC discusses tense border situation following Op Sindoor, firing by Pak

JAMMU, May 8: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference today discussed the prevailing tense situation along the Jammu and Kashmir borders following Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists. The Omar Abdullah-led Government has always been proactive in responding to such situations and has remained committed to people’s safety and communal harmony.
This was stated by Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president while addressing a meeting of National Conference’s Jammu District Urban, Rural A, and Rural B functionaries at party office.
The meeting commenced with the participants observing a moment of silence to mourn the untimely deaths of civilians in Poonch and offering prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. The meeting also discussed the prevailing tense situation at the borders following Operation Sindoor.
The Provincial president said that the situation along the borders is very critical, marked by heightened tensions and uncertainty following the recent Operation Sindoor and cross-border firing. He expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of civilians living in the affected areas, highlighting the urgent need for immediate relief measures and continuous monitoring to prevent further escalation.
Gupta asked party workers to remain connected with the people, extending all possible support and assistance to those in need. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining constant coordination with the local administration to ensure timely help and relief.
He said that the Omar-led Government is working tirelessly to address the ongoing challenges, ensure the safety of civilians, and provide immediate relief to those affected. The NC Govt already released contingency funds to each Deputy Commissioners to provide relief to the needy. He added that the Government remains focused on maintaining peace, restoring normalcy, and strengthening communal harmony across the region.
