SAMBA, Nov 14: Saying that the rants and push to restoration of Article 370 by the National Conference-Congress unholy alliance is a sinister attempt to disempowering the marginalized people of Jammu and Kashmir, BJP Pradesh, vice president and MLA, Surjeet Singh Slathia asserted that this is not going to happen come what may.
Addressing a Vijay rally in block Ghagwal of Samba Assembly constituency, Slathia asked the NC-Congress combine not to undermine the political wisdom of the people by selling dreams, as they know that even their generations cannot reverse the clock back.
He said the NC-Congress rhetoric on Article 370 is a clear disregard for the rights of Jammu and Kashmir’s marginalized communities and an attempt to undo the progress registered post August 5, 2019 political developments. They cannot be allowed to create obstacles in the path of equality and inclusion that remained the hallmark of the past five years, he added.
Slathia said the era of isolating Jammu and Kashmir from the benefits of welfare schemes for over seven decades is now a nightmarish past, as the marginalized communities, including Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwals, refugees, and other underprivileged groups have realized the power of empowerment bestowed upon them by visionary Prime Minister, Narendra Modi that finally enabled them access to opportunities in education, employment, political participation, and social welfare programs that had previously been denied due to discriminatory provisions of Article 370, he added.
Slathia said the divisive calls for restoring Article 370 only threaten to reopen old wounds and push Jammu and Kashmir into further disparity and isolation. The National Conference, the Congress and their allies stand hugely exposed for their anti-poor, anti-women and anti-youth agenda, he said, adding that the people will teach them a lesson for indulging in reactionary and euphoric politics rather than fulfilling the promises made during the elections.
Later, Slathia laid the foundation of the construction of the balance work of Water Supply Scheme at Sangwali at an allocated cost of Rs 100.22 lakhs and construction of Cause Yay at Village ChannMatloniTapyal estimated to cost Rs 94 lakhs.
Mandal president, BJP Ghagwal Naresh Upadhaya, DDC Suresh Kumar Sharma, vice president, BJP Samba Vijay Singh, ex Sarpanch Jasbir Singh, Geetanjali Sharma, Jeet Raj and Tersaim Singh were among the prominent leaders who accompanied Slathia during his Vijay Rally.
