SRINAGAR, Apr 6: Senior PDP leader and former Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra has said that the National Conference-Congress Coalition Government in the State has become a symbol of repression, anarchy, economic subjugation, corruption and misrule.
He said given the alarming number of scams tumbling out of the Coalition Government’s cupboard, the present dispensation has earned the dubious distinction of being not only an incompetent but a scandalous Government as well.
In a statement issued here today, Mr Karra said while the State’s hapless people have become victims of physical persecution, mental agony and economic distress, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his Ministers are busy playing to the galleries through contrived melodramatics and rhetorical outbursts.
“While complete governance failure was taking its toll on every sphere of public life, the latest wave of sickening scams surfacing in various departments including PHE scam and the horrendous drug mafia racket has created an alarming situation with the apathetic Government functionaries busy amassing wealth even by trading the lives of the people,” he said and added that given the enormity of this appalling issue, normally in a civilized society, people involved in this dastardly and shameful scam, alongwith the Government functionaries patronizing them, should have been since put behind the bars.
Mr Karra said having failed on every count, the present Government has now pushed Kashmir into perpetual darkness, with people now being subjected to harsh and extended power cuts even during summers.
“The power situation has deteriorated to alarming levels in the Valley during the past few days and there seems to be no end in sight to the present frustrating scenario,” he said and added that while there has been manifold increase in power tariff during, since the present Government took over in 2009, the power supply has deteriorated correspondingly.
