SAMBA, Aug 27: MLA Bimla Luthra today said that National Conference is committed for empowerment of women and it is the aim and objective of the Party.
She said this while addressing a convention of Women Wing of the Party here at Bishnah. She asserted that NC is committed for equitable development of all the three regions of the State and especially focusing to the development and welfare of the women folk.
I always fight for the cause of the women in the Legislative Assembly and in other forums and will continue to do so, she added.
State vice-president, NC, Rattan Lal Gupta, who was the chief guest while addressing said that the aim and objective of NC and its leadership is to empower the women folk in the State at the gross root level so that they can participate in the developmental activities in their respective areas.
He said that the one-third reservation is given to the women by virtue of Panchayati Raj Act and likewise one-third reservation is also given to the women in the local bodies so that their share of power in the democratic institutions be well utilized for the upliftment and betterment of the women folk in the State.
Earlier, the women office bearers apprised the MLA about the problems of the area including the losses caused due to heavy rains and flood to the properties, residential houses, crops etc.
