Navjot Kaur Sidhu lashes out on social media after Congress announces her expulsion

CHANDIGARH, Feb 6: The Congress party has officially expelled Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, former MLA and wife of veteran cricketer and ex-Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The announcement was made by Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel during his visit to Amritsar.

This development follows a period of heightened friction between Dr. Sidhu and the party high command, leading to her suspension by state president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring approximately two months ago.

While the formal expulsion was announced today, Dr. Sidhu had already declared her intention to sever ties with the party on January 31.

Following the disciplinary action, Dr. Sidhu launched a scathing attack on the Congress leadership, specifically targeting Rahul Gandhi in a series of social media posts.

She accused the leadership of being disconnected from ground realities and residing in a “self-created paradise.”

Dr. Sidhu alleged that the inner circle surrounding the top leadership is more interested in luxury and the pre-emptive sale of election tickets rather than selfless service. She further criticized the party’s slow response to emergencies, claiming that the delay in decision-making often leads to inevitable political losses.

In a direct challenge, Dr. Sidhu took a dig at the party’s “honest” image, asking if the current followers were truly willing to work selflessly for Punjab. She claimed that many within the party are busy “filling their pockets” and challenged them to speak against the state government, suggesting their own legal files would be exposed if they did so.

Drawing a comparison with her previous tenure, she noted that the BJP had recognized her professional talent as a doctor in 2012, allowing her the liberty to work with integrity, a freedom she hinted was missing in her recent political environment.

Concluding her remarks with a spiritual and ideological challenge, Dr. Sidhu invited Rahul Gandhi to Amritsar, offering to host him until he “understands the essence of the scriptures” he frequently cites.

She challenged the Congress leadership to a televised debate to answer basic questions regarding the state’s welfare.

While asserting that she has not approached any other political party, Dr. Sidhu maintained that her energy remains dedicated to the people of Punjab, suggesting she may continue her social work through a foundation rather than active politics.
