Navin Aggarwal attend International Conference on Prison reforms

SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Director- General of Prisons, Navin Aggarwal, participated in the 32nd Asia-Pacific Conference of Correctional Administrators which was held at Brunei Darussalam in which officers of Prisons, Law and Justice Departments of several nations participated. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Caring and Meaningful Rehabilitation’.
In the inaugural function, India was represented by K Skandan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The week long deliberations were conducted by Vimla Mehra, Director- General, Tihar Jail, and Navin Aggarwal, Director- General of Prisons J&K.
A professional presentation on improving staff- inmate interaction in prisons and outside prisons without compromising security concerns was made by Mr. Aggarwal which was followed by detailed discussion by participants from several countries. The conference also agreed to hold the 2013 meet in New Delhi.
