JAMMU, Jan 6: Against the continued illegal settlement of Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants in the Jammu region, activists of National Awami United Party (NAUP) staged a protest here today.
The demonstration was led by senior NAUP leader Shikha Bandral, who called for urgent Government intervention to safeguard the security and demographics of Jammu.
The protesters expressed deep concern over the alleged involvement of these illegal immigrants in criminal activities and the threat they pose to national security.
Speaking on the occasion, Shikha Bandral stated, “The presence of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants in Jammu is not just a demographic issue but a severe security threat. Despite repeated warnings, their numbers have continued to swell in the outskirts of Jammu city. We demand that the administration immediately identify these individuals and initiate their deportation process without delay.”
“If the administration fails to take concrete steps, the NAUP will intensify its agitation across the Jammu province to protect the rights and safety of the local Dogra population,” she said.
Among others who were present included Suman Devi, Sushma Kumari, Pinki Devi, Balwan Chand, Bittu Ram, Poli Devi, Krishan Lal, Parveen Kumar and Anju Devi.
