JAMMU, June 15: A new Hindi Play ‘Shaatir Khiladi’ was today staged by Natrang in its Sunday Theatre series. The play was written by Daya Prakash Sinha and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The plot of the play carried an instinctive humor in it which made the audience tickle with laughter many times during the performance.
The play revolves around one ‘Lala Chadami Lal’ who has married for the fourth time as three of his wives have expired one after another. This fourth wife, being much younger in age, makes her husband dance to her tunes.
Lala, who was once a very dominating husband in his youth, has turned out to be a silly henpecked husband because of the anger and stubbornness of the new wife. But considering himself to be an old champion, he does all round efforts that his image is not tarnished in the locality.
He narrates fake epics of his dominance over his wife in the locality so that he could hide the timidity which he actually shows in front of her.
One fine day, he received an elaborate scolding and proper beating from his wife as he was unable to gift her one particular dress which she demanded.
She gets him out of his own home with the condition that he could enter but only if he brings that dress along. But ‘Lala’ tries to re-frame the story in front of his friends so that they don’t laugh at him.
Thus it was revealed at last that he certainly was an old champion.
The artists who acted in the play included Aryan Sharma, Adaksh Bagal, Kushal Bhat and Kartik Kumar.
The lights of the play were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and the presentations were done by Prerna Sharma.
