Natrang coming up with biggest Theatre Fest

JAMMU, Apr 12: With 130 artists on stage, Natrang is coming up with a theatre festival of 16 plays in Jammu to promote the theatre among youth and the fest will introduce young theatre faces, majority new.
All the 16 plays to be staged in the fest will be directed by Padamshri Balwant Thakur who will be supported by a team of Natrang professionals.
A handout stated that the plays being featured will include a wide range of scripts ranging from world classics to historic Indian popular and established acts and will include Stanley Houghton’s ‘The Dear Departed’, Fritz Karinthy’s ‘The Refund’, Chekov’s ‘Girgit’, Bhartendu Harishchandra’s ‘Andher Nagari’, Munshi Prem Chand’s ‘Budi Kaki’, Kishan Chander’s ‘Gadda’, Balwant Thakur’s ‘Aaj Ki Aurat’, ‘Gursharan Singh’s ‘Jangi Ram Ki Haveli’, Shiv Ram’s ‘Janta Paagal Ho Gai Hai’, Radha Krishan Sahaya’s ‘Hey Matarbhumi’, Lakshmi Kant Vaishnav ‘Rehearsal’, Bhagwati Charan Verma’s ‘Sabse Bada Aadami’, Satya Prakash Sangar’s ‘Coffee House Wali Ladki’, Pratap Sehgal’s ‘Koi Aur Rasta’, Satyendra Srivastava’s ‘Miss World Undeclared’ and Upender Nath Ashak’s ‘Jonk’.
The theatre festival will feature 130 performing arts students learning under Balwant Thakur who are being trained into various aspects of personality development, public speaking and communication skills through the magical art of theatre.
Natrang’s new initiative is set to revolutionise the art scene of the region. After COVID-19, Natrang is the only organisation which, despite all constraints, has never allowed theatre activity to die down in the city of Jammu.
Through few volunteers, Natrang has been making all out efforts to ensure that art and culture survives here for the larger intellectual health of this region.
