JAMMU, Apr 8: The activists of National State Government Employees Federation held a protest pertaining to their demands.
The activists carrying banners assembled outside Governor House and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The protestors were demanding change in the policy of abolishing trade union in the name of labour laws reforms in consultation with Central Trade Union, abolishing of contract labour system and making permanent contract labourers who are working for years, cent percent FDI in Railways and 49 per cent FDI in Defence should be allowed, report of 7th Pay Commission should be published without further delay.
They also demanded that a union should be registered and recognized under the provisions of the Trade Union Act 1926 in Postal Department in place of CCS (RSA) Rules, employees of State Government, autonomous institutions and Central Government should be treated equally in the matter of salary, wagers and service conditions, new pension scheme should be scrapped, 100 per cent recruitment should be given to the dependents of deceased employees and ceiling of productivity linked bonus should be removed.
“For resolving the grievances of employees of State Government and autonomous body, a permanent negotiation machinery must be constituted in all the States, ban on recruitment and creation of new posts should be removed, 50 per cent DA from January 1, 2011 and 100 per cent DA from January 1, 2014 should be merged with basic pay, none of the Government installation should be closed, all the trade apprentices should be recruited in the establishment of Central Government, State Government and autonomous bodies and income tax exemption limit should be extended to Rs 5 lakh.
Later, a delegation led by Subash Verma, State general secretary of the federation submitted a memorandum of demands to Governor for consideration.
Among others present were Suman Sharma, Rattan Doshi, Ram Lobhya, Chuni Lal, Vijay Chandel, Maheshwar Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Varun Dogra, Manzoor Ali, etc.
