National Science Day celebrated with enthusiasm and academic fervour

JAMMU, Feb 28: National Science Day was today celebrated by different organizations across Jammu, to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist, Sir C V Raman in the year 1928.
Government Degree College celebrated the Day by organizing a programme under the able guidance of the Principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Meeru Abrol.
On the occasion, a documentary on the life and scientific contributions of C V Raman was screened for the students and faculty members.
Faculty members Darpan Malhotra, Dr Shakeeb Manzer and Dr Susheel Kumar were also present on the occasion.
Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah celebrated the Day in the college premises under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr Shallu Samyal.
The programme began with an address highlighting the importance of empowering women in scientific research, innovation and leadership roles.
The celebration was organized by the Incharge of the Science Club, Dr Sonika Khajuria and Dr Ashma Gupta also made significant contributions to the programme.
In celebration of Day, students from Government Degree College Nagrota visited the Survey of India, Jammu, Nagrota, to participate in an educational workshop aligned with this year’s inspiring theme, “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.”
The academic visit was organized under the esteemed patronship of the Principal, Prof Anjali Mahajan.
The Department of Physics in collaboration with the Science Club of Government Degree College Ramnagar celebrated the Day by organising a symposium on the theme “Role of Women in Science” and a Poster Making Competition highlighting the life and contributions of Nobel Laureate Sir C V Raman.
The symposium witnessed active participation from students. A total of 9 students participated in the symposium.
The entries were carefully evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Prof Sumita Rao, Prof Manmohan Singh and Dr Sham Singh. Abhinash, Joginder Pal and Vinakshi bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, in collaboration with Vigyan Parishad Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh and Vigyan Bharati Jammu, celebrated National Science Day.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof B N Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and president, Vigyan Parishad, Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh.
In his message, Prof Tripathi highlighted the growing contribution of women scientists in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat.
SPPND Government Degree College, Samba celebrated the Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme was organized under the guidance of the revered Principal Prof (Dr) Nirlape Kour.
The Guest of Honour was the senior most faculty of the college Assoc Prof Narayan Dutt.
Assoc Prof Renu Rajput gave an informative talk on the life history of Sir C V Raman.
The Principal, in her address, lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and students, stating that National Science Day is not merely a celebration but a reminder of the transformative power of scientific thinking.
Institutional Innovation Council of Government Degree College Ramban celebrated the Day.
The program commenced up with welcome address by Dr Jawaid Sarver (Convener IIC & HOD Botany).
The key note lecture was delivered by Dr Anuj Gupta (HOD Geography).
The event was organised under the overall supervision of worthy Principal of the College Prof Romesh Kumar Atri.
Prof Atri, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Institutional Innovation Council for organizing such a meaningful academic event. He encouraged students to cultivate a scientific temperament and actively participate in innovative and research-oriented activities.
The Department of Chemistry, Government Degree College Kathua, celebrated the Day by organizing a poster presentation competition.
The competition was organized in honour of Dr C V Raman for his scientific contributions especially Raman Effect.
Prof Manohar Lal, Principal, GDC, Kathua was chief guest on this occasion.
He appreciated the efforts of all faculty of Chemistry Department by organising such a large event on National Science Day.
To commemorate National Science Day, the Science Club and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Government Degree College Thannamandi organized an Exhibition-cum-Seminar with great enthusiasm and academic spirit.
The event was organised under the guidance and support of the College Principal (Dr) Shamim Ahmed Azad.
Insightful talks were delivered by Dr Ashaq Malik, Dr Meenakshi Sharma, Dr Attiq Ul Rehman and Dr Shazia Paswal, who spoke on various dimensions of science, innovation and research opportunities.
The IQAC and the Science Departments of Government Degree College for Women, Kathua, commemorated National Science Day under the patronage of the Principal, Dr Jaipal Singh.
The event commenced with a formal inaugural session. In his address, Principal Dr Jaipal Singh underscored the significance of National Science Day, which commemorates the discovery of the Raman Effect by the eminent Indian physicist C. V. Raman.
Government Degree College Surankote celebrated the Day with great zeal and enthusiasm under the theme “Young Learners Innovating for a Sustainable and Disaster Resilient Future.”
The occasion also marked the valedictory function of the Week-long Workshop, NSS Winter Camp, HIV/AIDS Day and Road Safety Week celebrations.
The programme was graced by chief guest Muhammad Irshad. The event was further honoured by guest of honour Muslim Wani and special guest Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja.
Prominent social activist Arif Kazmi was also present on the occasion. The keynote speaker, Arif Wali, Associate Director, Land Resources Division at The Energy and Resources Institute, joined the event virtually.
The Day with celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the premises of J&K Ladakh Geo-Spatical Directorate, Survey of India, at Nagrota.
The programme was inaugurated by the Director, Misal Roshan Srivastava.
In his address Srivastava emphasized the significance of scientific innovation and vital role of geospatial technology in national development, particularly in the context of the theme of this year’s National Sconce Day.
