JAMMU, Sept 25: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and candidate for Jammu North Assembly Constituency, Sham Lal Sharma, today stated that entire nation is indebted to the families of the soldiers who have made supreme sacrifices in the line of the duty.
Sharma stated this while addressing a meeting of the Akhil Bhartiya Purv Sainik Seva Parishad organised by Captain Paras Ram, President Jammu North.
A statement said that several distinguished ex-Servicemen from Roopnagar, Muthi, Barnai, Bantalab, Raipur, Purkhoo, and Domana attended the event.
It said the meeting began with two minutes of silence to honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, followed by a patriotic song by Capt Krishan Singh.
Addressing the gathering of ex-Servicemen, Sham Lal Sharma expressed the nation’s deep respect and gratitude towards its soldiers.
“Our soldiers are the true custodians of our nation’s integrity, carrying forward the proud Dogra legacy of loyalty and patriotism. Their sacrifices in protecting our ‘matrabhumi’ can never be repaid, and it is our duty as citizens to ensure that their legacy is honored and preserved,” he said.
Sharma also emphasized the vital role of ex-Servicemen in shaping the nation’s future, praising their unwavering commitment to national security. He assured the veterans that if elected, he would advocate for policies prioritizing the dignity and honor of the armed forces, reinforcing the Government’s focus on national security and the well-being of those who have served.
Col Vidya Sagar (Retd) reiterated the organization’s non-political stance but stressed that if the safety and security of the motherland were threatened, they would support a party that champions patriotism. “BJP is the only option,” he added.
Brigadier Balbir Singh Sambyal, President of Akhil Bhartiya Purv Sainik Seva Parishad, J&K, stated that the nation’s security is paramount, and they would vote for a candidate who believes in the philosophy of “Nation First.”
Col Sukhvir Mankotia (Retd) urged Sharma to make decisions in the national interest once in office, emphasizing that the ex-Servicemen’s priority is the dignity and honor of the country.
He added, “We will ensure the Government is formed by those loyal to the nation, not by those who questioned the Balakote and Uri strikes.”
The meeting concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
