Narcotics smuggling bid foiled at Nashri

RAMBAN, June 4: Ramban police today foiled a narcotics smuggling bid at Nashri naka on national highway by arresting one person with 4.7 kilogram of poppy straw.
Continuing it’s drive against the drug menace, a police party at Nashri while doing naka checking intercepted one Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK01AB 2559 for routine checking.
During the process of checking, 4.7 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from a passenger namely Kuldeep Singh son of Kulwant Singh, resident of Talwandi Moga Punjab.
The accused was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw like substance was also seized. During the preliminary questioning, the accused confessed that he was illegally transporting the poppy straw from Kashmir to Jammu.
In this connection, a case FIR number 59/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at police station Batote and further investigation started.
