JAMMU, Nov 8: Satwari Police has foiled a narcotic smuggling bid and arrested two persons with heroin-like substance, a country-made pistol, live cartridges, cash and other incriminating material during naka checking near Hanuman Chowk in Old Satwari.
Police said a naka team, led by PSI Karnail Singh, Incharge Police Post Chatha, under the supervision of SHO Satwari, SDPO City South and overall supervision of SP City South Jammu, intercepted a white Swift car (JK21L-1863) coming from Belicharana towards Chatha.
During questioning, the driver was identified as Sunny Kumar, son of Harbans Lal of Dabuj Kaka, Ramgarh, Samba, while the co-passenger was identified as Jaspal Singh alias Deep Nagra, son of Dallar Singh of Nath Colony, Old Satwari.
A search of the accused led to the recovery of around 10 grams of heroin-like substance from Jaspal Singh, while Sunny Kumar was found carrying a desi katta loaded with a live round and two additional cartridges. Police also seized Rs 21,590 cash, an electronic weighing machine and a sharp-edged weapon from the vehicle.
Police have registered FIR Number 222/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and Arms Act at Police Station Satwari and investigation is underway.
