Narcotic smuggler held with over 2 kg poppy straw

SAMBA, Sept 19: Continuing its drive against the narcotics smugglers, Samba police has arrested one narcotics smuggler and recovered approximately 2.420 kgs of poppy straw like substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Bari Brahmana.
Police said acting on information received through reliable sources, a team of Police Station, Bari Brahmana intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number HP64B-7804 near Dabur Factory, Bari Brahmana for its checking. During checking of the vehicle, police has recovered approximately 2.420 kgs of poppy straw like substance.
The narcotics smuggler identified as Virender Singh, son of Ganga Ram of Dahar tehsil, Shalai district Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh) has been arrested and the contraband item along with vehicle have also been seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 137/2025 U/S 8/15/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and further investigation started.
