KOHIMA, Nov 3: India’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) under its ‘save a tree campaign’ as part of its green banking initiative today launched the first green banking branch at Science College Jotsoma, about 11 Km from here.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalthara said the initiative of SBI in its commitment towards the green cause is a cause that is very close to his heart and something he have been promoting all along in personal life and encouraging others to do so.
The Assistant General Manager of RBO- Dimapur Ashok Kumar Das stated that the SBI in opening a Green Banking Branch, the first of its kind in the country, is taking leaps towards paperless banking through maximum use of technology-driven channels.
He also mentioned that all SBI branches in Nagaland will be adopting one village each for financing solar power panels under NABARD scheme.
