RAJOURI, Dec 14: Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar and Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli today inaugurated the Dhanwan-Chakli Bridge.
Constructed with the cost of Rs. 7.41 crore under NABARD, the bridge will provide connectivity to more than ten thousand souls from Dhanwan, Chakli, Baryan, Dagani, Loorekote and other contiguous villages.
The Ministers also laid foundation stones for Rs 4.69 crore Kallar-Potha Bridge being constructed under Prime Minister Re-Construction Package and Rs. 1.62 crore Chatiana bridge over Doongi Nallah under NABARD.
Naeem Akhtar, while reviewing the Detailed Project Report of Kallar-Potha Bridge, took a serious note of non-inclusion of approach road in the DPR and directed the S E PWD Rajouri-Poonch to conduct a detailed inquiry in the matter and fix the responsibility of the concerned officer for this serious lapse on his part.
Later, the Works Minister while speaking at a public meeting at Chatiana emphasized that the Government is carrying out sustained and equitable development of all the three regions of the state with equal allocation of resources.
Referring to late Mufti Mohammad Sayed’s vision of enhancing the inter-regional connectivity with state-of-art road infrastructure and tunnels, Naeem Akhtar said the Government has already undertaken the four-laning of all major highways in the state and the process for construction of tunnels on Mughal Road and Kashmir-Leh highway is also in final stages.
“A slew of projects including new roads and bridges worth Rs.180 crore would be started in the next financial year apart from completion of all ongoing projects in the district”, the Minister said adding the Government’s prime concern is to ensure the quality of work for which strict instructions have been given to the agencies to replicate the work standard of national highways for all sorts of roads.
Kohli, while speaking on the occasion, said the road connectivity is key to progress and prosperity of an area and this vital sector is receiving special attention of present dispensation in this regard.
While elucidating the initiatives of the Government in expanding a durable road network in the State, he said that a number of roads have been constructed and upgraded under PMGSY, BADP, CRF etc thereby ensuring connecting even in the remotest parts of the State.
The Ministers were accompanied by Chief Engineer R&B Sudhir Shah, ADC A S Chib, SSP Yougal Manhas, ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir, SE Majid Wani besides other district officers.
