JAMMU, Dec 4: The 12th Foundation Day of NABARD Consultancy Services (NABCONS) was celebrated at regional office of NABARD.
NABCONS, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of NABARD, is engaged in providing consultancy services in all spheres of agriculture, rural development and allied areas throughout the country as well as international organizations/ country.
The chief guest on the occasion was Shaafat Noor Barlas, Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development.
In his key-note address, Barlas noted that NABARD has come a long way in J&K and still a lot needs to be done and appealed NABARD to work in tandem with the Government machinery to achieve the ultimate objective of rural development.
He emphasized that the third party monitoring has become an important mechanism for maintaining transparency in Government organizations.
He was happy to note the presence of senior Government officials, particularly Director Finance and Director Planning which reflected the seriousness and commitment for developing partnership between NABCONS and the State Government.
Chief General Manager (CGM) of NABARD J&K Regional Office, A Pande, who is also the Principal Consultant of NABCONS in the State, while addressing the gathering on the occasion, gave an overview of NABCONS’ activities in the State.
He narrated success stories from other States and also informed the forum about special initiatives taken by NABCONS in the State of J&K like Study on Apple Value Chain. He assured the State Government to build productive partnership in the State.
The function was attended by senior officials from the Government Departments such as Finance, Planning, Agriculture, Horticulture, Cooperation, DMI, etc and Chartered Accountants and private entrepreneurs, besides the senior officers and staff of NABARD/ NABCONS.
