JAMMU, Aug 1: The Muzaffrabad (POK) Refugees Welfare Society (Punjab) has demanded their inclusion in the Prime Minister’s package for one time settlement of DPs.
Reacting to the decision of State Advisory Committee, Jammu for inclusion of 5300 displaced families from POJK 1947 in Central Assistance for one time settlement to displaced families under Prime Minister Package -2015.
“We strongly object the decision of the State Government to include only those DPs out of 5300 families who were registered outside the J&K State for payment of ex-gratia amount of Rs. 3500 but they later on settled in Jammu. The benefit was granted to only to 26319 families out of 31619 POJK 1947 families registered with the Rehabilitation Deptt of Jammu & Kashmir. Thus 5300 registered families from POJK 1947 have been denied the aforesaid benefit. Even the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India, vide their letter No. 31/01/2011-R&SO dated June 10, 2015 had requested the State of Jammu & Kashmir to incorporate those DP’s in Rehabilitation package who have settled in other parts of the country. Various representations to Governor and Chief Minister of J&K State were sent but no action had been taken on it so far,” they claimed.
“This is the second time mistake being committed by the State Government after 2014.The need is to include all the 5300 families in the package irrespective of their residential status at present. All these families were settled for their livelihood in remote areas of the country as they had nothing in their pockets to keep their families survive after partition. Above all they all are Ist Class State subjects of J&K,” they added.
They have demand an early announcement to include all the 5300 rightful families of POJK DP’s of 1947 living in remote areas of the country in the PM’s package.
