AKHNOOR, Nov 15: A special programme to enhance oilseed production and empowering rural women was organized here today at Agriculture Office Akhnoor where mustard mini kits were distributed to the members of various women Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The event was held in the presence of MLA Akhnoor Mohan Lal, who was the chief guest on this occasion. Sub-Division Agriculture Development Officer (SDAO) Akhnoor, Rajan Sharma, AEO Daskal, Yogesh Mehta, Assistant Input Officer, Praveen Kumari, Women SHG leader, Anita Devi and all officials and staff of the Sub Division Akhnoor was also present.
Addressing the gathering, SDAO Rajan Sharma highlighted various initiatives being implemented under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, along with several schemes aimed at improving livelihood opportunities for women and farmers.
MLA Mohan Lal emphasized the commitment of PM Modi towards doubling farmers’ income and empowering rural communities.
He further encouraged women SHGs to adopt income-generating initiatives such as beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, organic farming and other allied activities.
The programme concluded with technical guidance provided by agriculture officials on the proper use of mustard mini kits, crop management practices and the assurance of continued field support to the SHGs.
