The bright yellow fields, currently in full bloom at several locations across the district, are drawing the attention of visitors, many of whom are seen stopping along the roadside to admire the scenic landscape.
Tourists travelling towards Sonamarg often halt their vehicles after catching a glimpse of the flowers, stepping out to take photographs and soak in the view of the mustard bloom spread across the countryside.
“We stopped here after seeing the mustard fields. They didn’t let us go beyond,” said Shivani, a tourist from Jalandhar in Punjab.
“It is very beautiful and the people here are amazing as well. We had visited Kashmir long ago and have come again. We stopped here for photographs and are now heading towards Sonamarg. It doesn’t feel like we have come to some other place-it feels like heaven.”
Another visitor, Seema Verma from Punjab, said the blooming fields added to the charm of their Kashmir trip.
“I feel so happy seeing these mustard flowers. We are enjoying the view and I can see many tourists stopping here to cherish the beauty. We will miss Kashmir and ask our friends to visit at least once,” she said, adding that the clean environment and breathtaking scenery made the experience memorable.
A tourist from Canada, Sneha, said witnessing the mustard bloom in person was a unique experience.
“I had only seen mustard fields on television before, but seeing them here live is completely different,” she said.
“We are heading towards Sonamarg and are also planning to visit Gulmarg and Dal Lake. I even called my friends in Canada on a video call to show them the beauty of Kashmir.”
Locals said the blooming season has turned parts of Ganderbal into picturesque spots, offering travellers a brief but memorable stop on their journey to Sonamarg.
