Murder by in-laws: 2 more held

UDHAMPUR, May 8: In Sunny murder case, police have also arrested mother-in-law and brother-in-law of the deceased, who was beaten to death at the house of his in-laws in village Sui.
With this, the number of persons arrested in connection with the murder case has risen to five, who include the deceased’s wife Neelu Devi, her sister Lakshmi Devi and her brother’s wife Neeru Devi. The trio was arrested within hours after Sunny son of Billa of Khereni Omara Udhampur was found dead with multiple injuries in the fields near the house of his in-laws at village Sui, last week.
During the course of investigation, the trio disclosed that Sunny’s mother-in law Rano Devi and brother in-law Vicky Kumar were also involved in committing the murder following which police raided various suspected locations and arrested the duo. Both of them have been remanded to police custody for seven days.
With this, police claimed to have arrested all the accused involved in the murder case.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police claimed to have arrested the absconding accused of Nari Niketan stone pelting case. His identity was established as Mohd Aslam of Lodna Udhampur.
Pertinent to mention that other accused Mohd Irfan of the same area was already arrested by police a day after the incident of stone pelting on Nari Niketan.
On the intervening night of May 4-5, both the accused allegedly barged into the Nari Niketan and pelted stones on the inmates there following which a complaint in this regard was registered at Udhampur Police Station.
