JAMMU, June 22: One of the five police personnel of Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu who were yesterday booked for murder by Domana police after they fired upon a suspected narcotics smuggler and killed him with service weapon at Slathia Mohalla near Domana, today allegedly attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at SOG Line, here at Hari Market.
The constable has been identified as Girdara Singh (26) son of Gurcharan Singh, a resident of Kheer Pind, Arnia. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where his condition was stated to be stable till the last reports came in.
According to MLC made in the police post GMCH, Constable Gurcharan Singh consumed some poisonous substance (toilet cleaner) at SOG Line, Hari Market. However, SHO, City police station, Inspector KK Gupta gave another version. He said as the Constable was suffering from dehydration since yesterday his condition suddenly deteriorated today following which he was shifted to GMCH, where he was still under observation.
