JAMMU, July 15: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Kartar Singh today acquitted Bodh Raj, Ajay Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Parkasho Devi, Om Parkash and Bachan Lal, who were facing trial in a murder case as the family members of the deceased turned hostile.
According to prosecution case, on July 5, 2012, the accused persons criminally trespassed into the land of the deceased Krishan Lal and started ploughing it with the tractor. When he objected to it, the accused caught hold of him, sprinkled kerosene oil on him and set him ablaze as a result of which he sustained burn injuries. Later, Krishan Lal succumbed to injuries.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Shabir Choudhary appearing for the State whereas Advocate PS Parmar for the accused persons, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the prosecution has examined number of eye witnesses including sons, daughters and sister of the deceased in order to connect the accused with the commission of alleged offence but all of them have not supported the prosecution story and turned hostile”.
Accordingly, the accused were acquitted of the charges framed against them for want of evidence.
