REASI, Sept 28: Municipal Committee Katra today took out an awareness rally in the town to promote the message of waste segregation at source.
The rally was flagged off by Chairman of Municipal Committee Vimal Indu along with vice-president Ajay Baru and other councilors. The rally started from Counter Number 2 and passed through the main bazaar.
CEO Municipal Committee Katra Preeti Sharma along with official staff and all the Safai Karamcharis participated in the rally. During the event, the Municipal Committee distributed t-shirts and caps along with two coloured bins to promote the message of Swachhta.
On the occasion, training was also imparted to rag pickers on the aspect of personal hygiene and effective waste management. Registration of rag pickers was also done in an effort to formalize the system and uplift their livelihood.
In order to promote the message of Swachhta, awareness campaigns were also organized that witnessed mass participation from the citizens. Ward number 2 and 3 of the Town were declared outstanding in terms of cleanliness.
Besides, to boost stakeholders’ participation and to recognize Swachhta Champions, awards were presented to best hoteliers for their contribution towards segregation of waste, in the presence of Rakesh Wazir, president of Hotel Association, Katra.
