JAMMU, Sept 26: Displaying class and skill, Mukteshi Sharma and Rahul Kumar both from the Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, again made their presence felt by winning the first and second prize in the Classical Vocal (Solo) Competition, conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, as part of ‘Display Your Talent 2012-13’ at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, here.
Akash Priya from the GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, bagged the third place.
Chand Narayan, Jagdish Mattoo and Balbir Chand, were the experts in this event.
Mukteshi Sharma presented ‘Chhota and Bara Khayal’ in Raga Yaman set to the Ek Taal in her sonorous voice and stole the show. The Bandish of ‘Bara Khayal’ was ‘Hari Muraliya Bajayee’. Rahul Kumar presented ‘Todi’ in Raga Bhupali and the Bandish was ‘Piya Bin Mora Jiya Tarasaa Re’. Both the items were highly appreciated.
Khayal in Raga ‘Bageshwari’, was presented by Akash Priya from Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar. The Badhish was ‘Balma Mori Tore Sang Laagi Re Preet’
Prof. NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee and Dr. Shailendra Singh, Associate Dean (SW), distributed the prizes amongst the winners.
The programme was compeered by Harmeet Kour, Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council whereas Joginder Singh acted as time keeper.
The programme was supervised by Anshu Bala, Divya Mahajan and Vaibhav Sharma.
