Srinagar, Nov  4:  Opposition National Conference (NC) today lashed out at Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, for defending Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Sewamsevak Sangh (RSS) and said that his views on BJP and RSS are personal and not of the people of the State.
“People of the country should not be misled that the political philosophy of the BJP and RSS is being defended in Kashmir. The people here are totally against that ideology. This impression is wrong and it may be his (Mufti’s) personal opinion but not the voice of the people who voted for his party actually to keep the BJP away,” NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar told a news conference here today.
The senior NC leader said that CM’s own legislators and a Member of Parliament slammed the attacks on minorities by Saffron parties. “It should not be seen as a leader of the Muslim majority State giving certificates to BJP and RSS. People, even, his party men, are not with him. Ten MLAs and an MP of PDP (Tariq Hameed Karra) have strongly condemned the attacks on minorities after beef ban row and rising intolerance unleashed by Sangh Parivaar. In their statements, they have directly attacked the BJP, with which they share alliance here. Doesn’t  Mufti Sahib know this?” he asked.
The NC leader alleged that the Government machinery was being used to “manage the crowd” for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s November 7 rally here. “The crowd is being managed. Officers have been told to get people for the rally. The Prime Minister or the country should not think that they represent Kashmir. That would be deception. Those who will attend the rally will be Anganwadi workers and dailywagers who have been left without salaries for many months,” he said.
Sagar said hundreds of people have been arrested in the run-up to the rally in Valley. “Where is the ‘battle of idea’ slogan of Mufti now? First time in the history of Srinagar, around 800 people associated with separatist groups are in jails. By creating graveyard like silence in Kashmir, Mufti wants to show that he successfully and peacefully organised the rally of the Prime Minister. What show is this?” he asked.
Over the expectations of PM announcing a financial package for the flood-victims of the Valley, the NC leader said: “packages do not work in Kashmir. Kashmir is a political issue and it needs political packages”.
