Srinagar, Nov 14: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today expressed concern over the increase in violence in the region, urging the Government to address its root causes and investigate the matter.
Speaking to reporters at Sumbal in Bandipora district, Mufti questioned the persistent growth of militancy and the surge in attacks since the Government’s formation.
“Who is responsible for these attacks? What is happening is truly tragic,” she said, demanding a thorough Government investigation into the matter.
The PDP Chief added that the Government must determine if these incidents are due to security lapses or other underlying issues.
“For the past 30-35 years, we have witnessed similar incidents, leaving children orphaned and women widowed. This cycle of violence has become all too common, and I unequivocally condemn this brutal attack,” she said.
Mufti visited Sumbal to the victim’s family of Srinagar Grenade attack and expressed sympathies with the family.
On the occasion, she strongly condemned the recent grenade attack in Srinagar’s Sunday Market that tragically claimed the life of Abida, a mother of three from Sumbal, Bandipora. Abida had sustained severe injuries in the attack and succumbed to them while undergoing treatment in a Srinagar hospital.
