JAMMU, Mar 20: Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK) held a protest at Rehari Chungi on BC Road against the alleged allotment of land in Jammu and Kashmir to non-resident outsiders for business purposes.
Addressing the protesting activists, MSJK president Sunil Dimple claimed that this move threatens the region’s demography and demanded the restoration of J&K as a princely Dogra state. He alleged that the Government disclosed in the Assembly that following abrogation of Article 370, land has been allotted to non-residents in the past two years. He further claimed that 200 more investors from other states are in line for similar allotments.
Dimple accused the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and the Housing Department of selling flats to outsiders. He urged former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to disclose in the Assembly the terms on which land has been allotted to non-residents for residential and business purposes. He insisted that 100% of jobs in new industries should be reserved for local youth and that land should be given on a 100-year lease rather than outright sale.
He criticized the BJP, alleging it is exploiting J&K like the East India Company and is reluctant to restore the Dogra state. Dimple also demanded the immediate reinstatement of Statehood, waiver of electricity bills, free ration, and the revival of the Darbar Move from April 1. He accused the BJP-led Central Government of ignoring the plight of unemployed youth and the poor in the region.
