JAMMU, Mar 31: Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK) activists here today staged a protest demonstration demanding passing of a bill in the J&K Assembly to ban the sale of liquor.
The protest was led by MSJK leader, Sunil Dimple who claimed that 29 MLAs of BJP are opposing the ban.
Dimple threatened to give a ‘Jammu Band’ call if the ban on liquor, Gutka and tobacco is not imposed in J&K.
“The youth of J&K have become addicted to liquor and drugs while the government has opened 300 liquor shops in Jammu,” he maintained adding: “The government itself is encouraging liquor sale and consumptions when the consumption of liquor has destroyed our youths, increased crime and domestic violence.”
The MSJK leader said that the NC alliance Government has majority of MLAs and they can pass the bills to ban the sale of liquor.
Vijay Khajuria, Dev Raj, Bishan Das, Vipan, Mukesh, Rakesh Sharma, Ram Kumar Das, Akbar Khan, Shafi Khan, Nazier Ahmad and many others were also present in the protest.
