KARGIL, Nov 4: Member of Parliament (MP) Mohmad Haneefa Jan conducted an extensive tour of the Trespone and GM Pore constituency today, accompanied by Executive Councillor Syed Mujtaba, GM Pore Councillor Syed Ali, Sub Divisional officers, and departmental officials.
During the visit, the MP interacted with residents across villages including Chaychay Thang, Sarchay, Kanoor, Trespone, Kukshow, Tambis, Saliskote, Gongma Horlam, and GM Pore, assessing local developmental needs and reviewing the implementation of Government schemes.
In Chaychay Thang, villagers requested restoration of the irrigation khul, solar power for the mosque, completion of the lift irrigation project, construction of a motorable bridge, development of footpaths, winter-friendly classrooms, and horticulture initiatives. The MP assured that these demands would be addressed as a priority.
At Sarchay, residents highlighted the need for a bridge, school building, grazing shelter, irrigation khul, medical sub-centre, Jal Jeevan Mission works, and women self-help groups. The MP directed the Rural Development Department to prepare a project for women’s self-employment and explore CSR funding.
In Kanoor, concerns were raised over road connectivity, CHC facilities, irrigation canals, public library, ATM services, solar batteries, ice hockey rink, JJM implementation, school upgradation, and BRO-related issues. The MP assured a meeting with DG BRO and district officers to address them.
At Trespone, demands included upgrading the GM Pore-Trespone Khul, PHC to CHC status, and EMRS-model schools. At Kukshow and Tambis, villagers sought bridges, teacher recruitment, libraries, solar lights, classroom fencing, and sanitation improvements. The Ladakh University Students’ Union submitted a memorandum of issues at Government High School Tambis.
Haneefa Jan also inaugurated the upgradation of Government High School Saliskote to a Higher Secondary School, emphasizing community participation in education. Concluding the tour at Gongma Horlam and GM Pore, villagers sought a full-fledged Tehsil office, road upgradation, sanctioned medical posts, and a school bus, which the MP assured would be provided during his tenure.
