JAMMU, Nov 20: With an aim to motivate youngsters to cast their vote, the Tehsildar Jourian, Rajesh Baru organised a motorbike rally under the Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
ADC Jammu, Kalyan Singh flagged off the rally from main road Devipur.
While addressing the participants, he said, “The SVEEP programme, has been initiated in the district to motivate voters and spread awareness about their constitutional right.”The voter awareness campaign under SVEEP programme is receiving a positive response from people,” he further added.
Baru said that his team was constantly motivating the public to cast votes through various methods, including rallies and road showsbesides organising various types of competitions, such as poster-making, painting and elocution competitions, at school to generate awareness among young voters.
He elaborated upon the various aspects of electoral awareness and participation and the aims of SVEEP; campaigns launched for differently abled voters, special voters,, women participation, youth voters, senior citizens; and for distribution of voter slips.
Mass pledge was also administered to all students and teachers to ensure the electoral participation of their relatives, family members and friends across the district. The students and teachers were also briefed by the SVEEP Resource persons about the importance and participation in the forth coming elections.
