More SRTC buses to be deployed in Chenab Valley: Kohli

JAMMU, Apr 7: Minister of State for Transport  Abdul Gani Kohli today asked the Transport Department to withdraw some of the buses of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) procured under JnURM,  and use them to provide transport facilities in hungry routes of Chenab Valley, Rajouri, Poonch, R.S. Pura and other areas of the State.
These instructions were given by the Minister after meeting with the Legislators, Shakti Raj, Daleep Singh, Dr. Gagan Bhagat and other representatives who called on him today.
These legislators apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by the people of their respective areas. They demanded that special mini buses should be arranged for transporting the stranded passengers of Chenab Valley to their respective destinations.
Mr Kohli assured them that the Government is committed to provide better transport facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the State. He said the directions have already been given to the concerned for extending comfortable transport facilities on routes to Chenab Valley. In this regard most of the stranded passengers of the Chenab Valley have been provided transport facilities by the JKSRTC.
The Minister also directed for early procuring of the left over fleet under JnURM, from Government of India by taking up the matter with the concerned quarters.
