Money Laundering Case: HC Grants Interim Medical Bail To Jet Airways Founder Naresh Goyal

Mumbai, May 6: The Bombay High Court on Monday granted Jet Airways’ founder Naresh Goyal two months’ interim bail in the ongoing money laundering probe.
Goyal is currently admitted to Reliance Hospital has been asked to furnish a surety of Rs 1 lakh.
Goyal asked for interim bail citing medical and humanitarian reasons as him and his wife Anita Goyal were both suffering from cancer.
However, the Enforcement Directorate had opposed the grant of bail and said that instead, his stay at a private hospital could be extended by a month.
In February, a special court refused Goyal bail and permitted him to be admitted to a private hospital of his choice and seek medical treatment.
In September 2023, ED arrested Goyal for allegedly laundering funds and diverting loans worth Rs 538.62 crore sanctioned to Jet Airways by Canara Bank.
Subsequently, in November 2023, Anita Goyal, his wife, was apprehended following the ED’s filing of a charge sheet. However, she was promptly granted bail by the special court on the grounds of her age and health condition. (PTI)
