MoEFCC, SCOPE, GIZ Germany hold workshop on climate action goals

JAMMU, Oct 15: Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and GIZ Germany organized an outreach workshop on Leadership Group for Industry Transition or LeadIT, a global initiative for industry decarbonisation.
Atul Sobti, DG SCOPE; Shantanu Roy, CMD BEML and Member SCOPE Executive Board; Tajender Gupta, Director (Power), BHEL; Ruchika Drall, Deputy Secretary (Climate Change), MoEFCC; Cecilia Tall, Counsellor, Innovation & Science, Sweden Embassy in India; Sebastian Borchmeyer, First Secretary, German Embassy in India; and Dr Alexander Fisher, Project Lead, International Climate Initiative (IKI), GIZ addressed the participants.
The event also brought together senior Government officials, industry leaders and international representatives from Sweden and Germany to deliberate on utilizing the platform of LeadIT to forge international collaborations, engage in innovation and understand possible financial arrangements to encourage transition of heavy-industry sector to a low emitting sector.
The workshop was participated by over 40 participants from nearly 20 organizations including public and private sector.
The Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) launched at the UN Climate Action Summit in 2019, is supported by the World Economic Forum and aims to create synergy amongst countries and companies to achieve net-zero carbon emissions from heavy industry by 2050.
