JAMMU, Dec 20: State Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Wasim Kohli, has lauded Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for what he termed the “total transformation” of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Kohli paid his highest regards to the BJP leadership, stating that under the guidance of Prime Minister, Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented development, improved governance and a renewed focus on merit and transparency.
He also applauded the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, for various developmental initiatives across the Union Territory. Kohli particularly appreciated the recent action in which 103 employees allegedly recruited through scams and bribery were removed from Government service. He said that even earlier popular governments in Jammu and Kashmir failed to deliver justice to merit-based youth, whereas the present administration under the Lieutenant Governor has ensured fairness and accountability, providing long-awaited justice to educated youth.
Highlighting recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir, Kohli noted that the Government’s focus has been strongly oriented towards infrastructure development, including highways, water supply, and power projects, alongside economic growth driven by a surge in tourism, support to artisans, promotion of startups, and new industrial policies. He also appreciated the emphasis given by Government on technology-driven governance, such as QR certification for crafts, expansion of education and health schemes, and the introduction of new economic initiatives to boost industries.
Kohli further quoted a recent statement of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah regarding electoral reforms. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, he said that the exercise aims to update electoral rolls and ensure that only eligible voters are included. Quoting Shah, Kohli said that objections raised by the Congress party reflect double standards, as voter lists are accepted when election results are favorable but questioned after defeats.
