JAMMU, Nov 3: While describing the BJP’s decision to form ‘Govt in coalition’ in the Jammu and Kashmir as biggest blunder, the Leader of Opposition  in Rajya Sabha and former Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today blamed the  Narendra Modi Government for the flare up on borders  and present situation in Kashmir valley.
While speaking to the media-persons after visiting GMC Hospital to enquire about the condition of the injured in the Pakistan firing in border villages, Azad said Modi Government at the Centre was responsible for the explosive situation along borders  and  the ongoing unrest in Kashmir valley.
The senior Congress leader said that it was biggest blunder on the part of BJP to form Government in Jammu and Kashmir. Azad said he had suggested to the Prime Minister during Parliamentary session in Delhi not to go for forming Government in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Even after 50 long years Congress was not fully acceptable in Kashmir valley, how people would accept RSS backed BJP in Kashmir valley so easily. The  present unrest in Valley is the outcome of this decision on the part of BJP,” Azad maintained.
The Congress leader said that regional parties are more acceptable in Kashmir. It is very sensitive state and the top BJP leaders failed to feel the  pulse of the people there. There is no improvement in the situation since long and common people are suffering a lot. Schools have been burnt and education system crumbled down, which is very unfortunate, Azad maintained.
The top Congress leader’s visit had come in  wake of the  recent cross-border firing in which eight civilians  were killed and more than 30 others wounded in last two days.
Azad said, “surgical strikes in PoK were OK but the NDA  Government tried to  project its own success by politicizing it. This should not have been done this.  It was expected that violence along borders would be reduced after strikes but it has further escalated along IB and LoC. The   number of ceasefire violations is far higher than these violations during the entire UPA Government,”  Azad added.
The Congress leader further said that the  border skirmishes had resulted in  the  losses on both sides of the border in terms of human lives, cattle and there is a threat of greater economic loss as the paddy fields have not been harvested as yet.
Referring to a question on Kashmir unrest, Azad said it is all because of the PDP-BJP Government in the State, but he did not say anything regarding the role of the separatists in igniting and fuelling the agitation in Valley.
Earlier, Azad  chaired a meeting of GMC Hospital Administration to review the overall functioning of the hospital besides taking stock of emergency services.
Principal GMC, Jammu Dr Zahid Geelani, Medical Superintendent Dr Ramesh Gupta, Dy Medical Superintendent Dr Davinder Singh and senior doctors were present in the meeting.
Azad enquired about the health condition  of the injured villagers in Pakistan shelling in hospital wards. Senior party leaders former DyCM Tara Chand, Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Anil Chopra and Manjit Singh were also accompanying him.
Later, accompanied by these leaders Azad paid visit to Rangoor Camp, Suankha village and several other border villages of Ramgarh sector and makeshift camps, where Pak shelling hit people are taking shelter.
He listened to the grievances of the border villagers  and assured them to raise the issue in the Parliament in coming session.
Azad who was supposed to return to New Delhi this evening stayed back for night halt. He would attend the cremation of veteran Congress leader Mangat Ram Sharma tomorrow at 11am and then return to Delhi.
