He said the security forces have been given free hand to chase the terrorists to finish and there will be no let up in that.
Assuring full support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Home Minister said that BJP led Government at Centre has already taken many steps for the development of the UT. He also assured promoting political stability in the UT and enhancing the disaster preparedness in the region in view of the recent cloudbursts and flashfloods that created large scale devastation and destruction especially in Jammu region.
Sunil Sharma, who held a detailed discussion on the prevailing political and security scenario in Jammu & Kashmir, informed Shah that the National Conference (NC) Government in J&K is “totally non-serious towards the public issues”. Instead of solving the pressing problems of the people, it is indulging in blame game and its performance has been totally dismal on ground, he added.
Sharma said he informed the Union Home Minister that the condition of roads and link roads are worst in the entire UT and this Government does not bother to take steps for immediate restoration of roads to ease the problems of the suffering people. He said many roads are totally closed and people are delinked from the rest of the UT especially in Jammu region.
Sharma demanded strengthening of the security grid especially in Jammu region in view of recently surfacing of terrorists in some jungles of the region. He also demanded that more proactive steps are needed to be taken to weed out the terrorism from the region.
Sharma said he did not discuss the relief package for flood hit people as the same will be announced by the PM for which the detailed survey is being conducted.

During the meeting, Sharma highlighted the evolving political and security dynamics in the Union Territory. He underlined the need to maintain peace and stability through effective governance, strengthening democratic institutions, and ensuring people’s participation in the developmental process. He also flagged concerns related to internal security, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts to counter emerging challenges and safeguard the interests of the people.
Sunil Sharma briefed the Home Minister about his extensive visits to flood-affected areas and interactions with the local population. He reported large-scale losses, including damage to roads, schools, healthcare facilities, homes, and crops, along with the displacement of several families. Many remote areas, he noted, remain cut off due to damaged connectivity and broken communication lines.
Sunil Sharma stressed the urgent need for a coordinated relief and rehabilitation programme, coupled with long-term measures such as climate-resilient infrastructure, stronger disaster response mechanisms, and the setting up of early warning systems. He also apprised the Home Minister of the relief efforts undertaken by BJP cadres in flood-hit regions.
Sunil Sharma expressed his gratitude to Shah for his visionary guidance and unwavering support. He reaffirmed the need for close collaboration between the Centre and the Union Territory administration to ensure peace, stability, and progress in Jammu & Kashmir, along with timely relief for flood-affected communities.
