Modi asks people of J&K to vote BJP to power

 

VIJAYPUR : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote the BJP to power in the state, saying the saffron party alone could mitigate their sufferings.

  

“The Congress has ruled the state, so have the father-son duo (Mr Farooq Abdullah and Mr Omar Abdullah) and the father-daughter duo (Mr Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Ms Mehbooba Mufti) but have they been able to improve the lot of the people?,” he asked addressing an election meeting in Jammu and Kashmir.   Talking about the Kashmiris uprooted from Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Modi said it was the responsibility of the country to ensure that these people returned to their homes in the state.   He said the people of the state had created history by voting overwhelming in the ongoing elections. “You have reposed full faith in democracy by exercising your vote,” he added.   Mr Modi said the people of the state had shown to the world that ballot was more powerful than bullet. “Every countryman feels proud of the people of Jammu and Kashmir because you have strengthened the hands of democratic forces.”   He also referred to the supreme sacrifice made by the country’s defence personnel for maintaining the unity of Jammu and Kashmir.  

“Their sacrifice would not be allowed to go waste,” he said.   The Prime Minister said he would continue to regularly visit Jammu and Kashmir to share the sufferings and pain of the people of the state.
