Mobilised resources for smooth traffic on Eid: SSP

SRINAGAR, June 4: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic City, Aijaz Ahmad, today said that ahead of Eid they have mobilized all available resources for smooth traffic in the city.
“We have mobilized additional personnel, and our monitoring cell is actively working on identifying ways to improve traffic flow and remove bottlenecks. At the same time, we urge the public to cooperate with us,” Ahmad told reporters here.
He said that Eid poses unique challenges, particularly due to the roadside sale of sacrificial animals.
“Such activities often cause traffic disruptions in Srinagar, especially around Eidgah. We’ve ensured deployment of personnel in these areas to regulate traffic movement.”
Despite the increasing traffic volume, he said the situation in Srinagar remains manageable.
Regarding traffic diversions, the SSP described them as unavoidable due to limited road infrastructure, which he said has seen no significant improvement.
“Traffic behavior varies – it’s different in the morning and altogether different in the evening. A single template cannot be applied to all situations. Diversions will continue until proper road infrastructure is in place,” he added.
