MLA takes up issues of Kathua Railway Station with DRM

JAMMU, Feb 24: Member Legislative Assembly, Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today took up various issues concerning development of Kathua Railway Station with Divisonal Railways Manager, Northen Railways Division, Jammu, Vivek Kumar.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan apprised Divisional Railways Manager, Northern Railways that trains like Tata Moori, Archana Express and Subedar Ganj had stoppage at Kathua which was withdrawn during Covid and has not been restored till date when there is no Covid now. He said that hundreds of employees and passengers are facing problems in shuttling between Jammu and Kathua besides the devotees going to Durbar Sahib , Amritsar face difficulties as in the absence of stoppage at Kathua they first go to Pathankot to board a train for Amritsar.
MLA further apprised DRM that under passage at Kathua near RPF Police Station on Maroli road has been badly damaged and villagers of Kandi Panchayats and industrial workers of IID Centre, Kathua face problems on this stretch of road (underpath) which is badly damaged.
MLA underlined the need for repair of this underpath and urged Divisional Railways Manager for the construction of underpath at Janglote and Jasrota on Railway tracks to ensure hassle-free movement of road transport as in the absence of underpath, vehicular movement remains affected from 20 to 30 minutes on both these spots and the people of around 20 Panchayats suffer besides the devotees going to revered shrine of Jasrota, Kali Mata Temple face difficulties.
The other issues discussed with DRM include need for improvement and further development of Kathua Railway Station, installation of new fans, new sitting arrangements and need for installation of an escalator to make passenger movement between platforms comfortable.
The Divisional Railways Manager Vivek Kumar assured to take up appropriate necessary action in this regard.
