MLA reviews losses caused due to rains in Ramnagar

RAMNAGAR, Aug 12: Taking stock of losses and disruptions in essential supplies caused by incessant rains in his constituency during an extensive tour of the area, Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar has directed concerned officials and agencies for immediate restoration of disrupted power, drinking water supplies and blocked roads.
While touring the various affected areas, he issued onspot instructions to officers of PHE, PDD, PWD, PMGSY, CAPD, Health and Sheep/Animal Husbandry departments for immediate restoration of shattered water channels, protection bunds and submerged pumping stations and restoration of all drinking water supplies. He directed the officers to remain pro-active in their approach so that the losses due to these heavy rains can be minimized.
He further directed PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply and resume all suspended electricity supplies. Fact remains that record and unprecedented rainfall has been witnessed in areas of Ramnagar and since the past fortnight, civil supplies have totally been snapped off with a crisis-like situation prevailing in these areas. In higher reaches of Ramnagar, Dudu-Basantgarh, Chenani, Pancheri, Chore Motu, Garh Samna Banj area, power, road connectivity and ration supplies have totally been snapped.
Mr Pathania said there is acute shortage of essential commodities like LPG, kerosene, household articles and clean drinking water. Human healthcare and animal healthcare facilities have also been affected. Also, major losses to the standing crops, fruit-growing tress, houses and lives of have occurred.
The MLA also called for restoring all damaged/suspended roads and irrigation canals. He directed the CAPD officials for maintaining ration supplies, particularly in far-flung and inaccessible areas. He said both Ujh and Tawi rivers are flowing through the Ramnagar and have caused whopping losses to the lands and orchards of the people. He directed Irrigation & Flood Control department to assess the losses and prepare DPRs for further protection works.
