MLA Ramgarh leads VKSA event to promote progressive farming

SAMBA, June 2: Dr Davinder Kumar Manyal, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ramgarh constituency, chaired a mega event under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) Kharif 2025 at village Nanga and Mahal Shah in district Samba.
A statement said on his arrival, Dr Manyal was warmly received by district officers and scientists from SKUAST-Jammu attending the event along with large number of farmers, farm women, and officials from agriculture and allied departments.
In his address, Dr Manyal described VKSA 2025 as a valuable opportunity for farmers to directly interact with experts and scientists.
He urged farmers to adopt organic and climate-resilient practices and take full benefit of schemes related to irrigation, seeds, fertilizers and crop insurance.
He praised the efforts of the Samba team led by Prof Sanjay Khajuria, District Nodal Officer, and officers from agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries departments for organizing the event.
Prof Sanjay Khajuria highlighted that VKSA 2025 is based on the “One Team-One District-One Krishi” model and focuses on equipping farmers with modern agricultural knowledge to meet local challenges.
He emphasized soil health, innovative techniques, and sustainability.
Dr Rakesh Khajuria, Chief Agriculture Officer Samba, briefed about the 15-day campaign aimed at raising awareness about modern Kharif crop techniques, Government schemes, soil health cards, and gathering farmer feedback for future improvements.
The programme was also addressed by DDC Member Ramgarh, Anita Choudhary, who thanked the VKSA team for reaching grassroots farmers.
Parkash Chand Chaudhary, Member Kisan Advisory Board, UT of J&K, encouraged farmers to diversify crops for better income and ecological balance.
Darshan Singh Chaudhary, Ex-BDC Chairman Ramgarh, appreciated the support from Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the Agriculture Department Samba.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Rakesh Khajuria, who also informed the MLA about various Government schemes benefiting the district’s farming community.
