UDHAMPUR, Nov 21: MLA Udhampur-West, Pawan Kumar Gupta today formally kick-started the blacktopping work at Karlai, Ward No. 15, Udhampur, marking a major step in the ongoing developmental initiatives aimed at improving the region’s road infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Pawan Gupta said that quality road infrastructure forms the backbone of development and that every household deserves better facilities, especially in areas where road conditions have remained neglected for several years. He emphasized that his commitment remains focused on ensuring last-mile connectivity, timely completion of public works, and transparent implementation of all development projects in Udhampur.
He further stated that the blacktopping work in Karlai will not only benefit local residents but will also improve access for school-going children, business owners, elderly citizens, and emergency services. “The road, which had been suffering from repeated wear and tear, potholes, water logging, and frequent maintenance issues, will now be fully upgraded with modern standards of blacktopping,” he added.
A large number of people, including prominent citizens, ward representatives, and senior locals, expressed their gratitude towards MLA Gupta for fulfilling a long-standing demand. They said that the poor condition of the road had been causing daily inconvenience and that this initiative has brought new hope for better facilities in the area. The public appreciated the MLA’s efforts to personally monitor and push for development works across different wards of Udhampur.
Officials from the concerned departments, including PWD engineers and field staff, were also present and assured that the work will be executed with strict adherence to quality norms. They highlighted that the project will be completed within the stipulated time frame and that no compromise will be made on construction standards.
MLA Gupta also interacted with residents to take note of other pending issues related to drainage, sanitation, street lighting, and ongoing municipal works. He assured the public that all genuine concerns would be addressed on priority and that his office remains fully committed to ensuring continuous development across every ward.
