AKHNOOR, June 7: In a significant step towards improving animal healthcare and farmer support in the border belt, MLA Akhnoor, Mohan Lal today laid the foundation stone and kick-started the construction work of a Veterinary Hospital and residential staff quarters in Pargwal.
With a project cost of Rs 66 lakh, this facility is expected to benefit more than 25,000 residents of Pargwal, the majority of whom belong to the farming community and are dependent on livestock for their livelihood. The initiative is particularly crucial for this border area, where cross-border shelling has previously led to loss of livestock and injury to animals, causing immense hardship to locals.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Akhnoor emphasized the need to educate farmers on modern agricultural techniques and ensure better livestock management, aiming to enhance productivity and rural resilience. MLA Mohan Lal reiterated his commitment to all-round development of border areas, ensuring that both human and animal welfare remain a top priority.
The event witnessed the presence of Xen Sunil Dogra (PWD), AEE Sunil Baogia, Tehsildar Manjeet Singh, Veterinary officer Dr Ajitpal Singh and others.
Prominent persons of the area including DDC Vice Chairperson Suraj Bhau, Ex-BDC Chairperson Nisha Devi, Mandal president Gaurav Singh, Pt Ram Swaroop, Om Parkash, Bhupinder Singh, Jai Singh, Uttam Singh, Pawan Singh, Mohan Lal, Kulbir Singh, Neeraj Sharma and others were present on the occasion.
