KATHUA, Dec 11: Member Legislative Assembly, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today kick started the construction of a major drain work in Kathua at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh.
As per release, MLA started the work of deep covered Nallah ( drain) in Lower Shiva Nagar, Kathua which will extend from District Employment Office to Shani Mandir in the presence of BJP Executive Committee Member, Prem Nath Dogra, Sat Pal Mansotra, general secretary, All J&K Private Schools Association, Rahul Dev, president, City Mandal, Anirudh Sharma former councilor, youth leader, Bhanu Paratap Singh, Amit Sudan, priest of Shree Gurudwara Hargovind Sahib, Shiva Nagar, Sardar Kara, Trasporter Purshotam Sharma and Capt. (retd) Prem. Besides, local residents of the area were also present in addition to officials of Public Works Department.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan while speaking on the occasion said that in the absence of proper Nallah, there was insanitation everywhere and people faced problems since last over 15 years. The rain water and overflow Nallah used to make way into low lying houses besides posing severe health hizards. He hoped that passage of Nallah will now provide relief to the residents of Shiva Nagar.
The residents complimented MLA for addressing the long pending issue.
Later MLA inspected the Fruit Mandi bridge in Krishna Colony, Kathua which was damaged during cloud burst and resultant floods of August 2025. The crate work was done to protect the vital bridge and MLA inspected the work.
