RAJOURI, Oct 19: MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed today kick-started the blacktopping work on the vital Kheora to Choudhary Nar Road via Rethal, marking the fulfillment of a long-pending public demand and an election promise he had made to the people after his victory.
The project aims to restore smooth connectivity to several habitations that had been suffering from poor road conditions for the last five years.
The event witnessed a large public gathering, reflecting the residents’ gratitude and enthusiasm. Prominent among those present were social activist Mustaq Bhat, District Youth president Mohd Rafiq Choudhary and former Sarpanch Abdul Rehman, besides many local citizens and supporters.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Iftikhar Ahmed said that improving rural connectivity and upgrading road infrastructure remains one of his top priorities. He added that the commencement of blacktopping work on this long-neglected road was a commitment fulfilled—a promise he made to the people during his election campaign.
The MLA assured that all remaining link roads within the constituency will be taken up phase-wise under various government schemes to ensure comprehensive development and better accessibility.
Locals expressed immense relief and thanked the MLA for his personal intervention in getting the long-delayed project sanctioned and executed. Residents noted that the road, which had been in a deplorable state for several years, had caused frequent accidents and transportation difficulties—especially for students, patients, and daily commuters.
PWD engineers supervising the work informed that the project will be completed in a time-bound manner using high-quality material to ensure durability. The initiative, they said, will significantly improve connectivity between Kheora, Rethal, and Choudhary Nar, benefitting thousands of residents in the region.
The project stands as a testament to MLA’s dedication to grassroots development, symbolizing the Government’s continued focus on rural infrastructure in Rajouri.
