KATHUA, May 24: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan, met the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javed Ahmed Dar and Education Minister Sakina Itoo in Srinagar today, raising several pressing concerns related to their departments.
A statement said during his meeting with the Rural Development Minister, Dr Bhushan urged for the early release of funds under the Constituency Development (CD) and Panchayat Schemes.
He informed that all MLAs had already submitted a list of proposed works, and technical feasibility checks had been completed.
In his discussion with Education Minister Sakina Itoo, Dr Bhushan raised the long-pending issue of land donors who were promised jobs in return for donating land for school infrastructure.
He said the School Education Department had taken land from these donors with a commitment to provide employment to an educated unemployed member of each donor family.
The MLA told the Minister that though all necessary documents had been submitted long ago, no action has been taken so far.
He pointed out that many donor families gave up prime, fertile land-ranging from two to six kanals-for the cause of education and now feel neglected.
Dr Bhushan also highlighted the issue of Master Grade Teachers and Lecturers from Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts who have been posted in far-off districts like Doda, Kishtwar, and Reasi for over three to five years.
He demanded that those who have completed at least two years in such hard zones be posted back to their home districts where vacancies exist.
Additionally, he sought the upgradation of High Schools in Dilwan, Lakhanpur, and Khokhyal to Higher Secondary level.
Both Ministers assured Dr Bhushan that the matters raised would be examined and necessary action would be taken at the earliest.
